When a man buys the right clothes (for him)

William’s recent online shopping spree was a sight for my sore eyes when the package finally arrived. Inside were good-quality shirts & tees in neutral colors. Oh, my heart did a little happy dance!!! The man is clearly on a mission, curating his own capsule wardrobe and I couldn’t be happier. Those days of eye-popping reds, yellows, and oranges emblazoned with oversized “LACOSTE” logos seem to be fading away (fingers crossed).

Just prior to this, we were on a dinner cruise with health executives in our region, and the event was organized by a pharmaceutical company. We were there just because our mom couldn’t make it, so she passed on the tickets to us. I spent the morning pondering over what clothes to wear. My choice for the evening: a blissfully comfy white tank, a chic cropped beige jacket, a satin midi brown skirt, and my dependable white Madrid sandals. William’s outfit was more casual — sporting a beige collared tee, dark jeans, and his Doc Martens (just because).

When we shared our cruise photos with Mom, this was her first comment: “They look good. Those outfits don’t embarrass me.” We love her, and also that was a major win.

Adapting to the whole “adult dressing” scenario feels new, especially as a newlywed. I’ve realized it’s not just about my own appearance; ensuring William looks his best is equally important. I lowkey find genuine pleasure in buying and picking out clothes for him (The Wall Street Journal mentioned that more men’s clothes are bought by women for men than by the guys themselves). This journey of refining his (and my) style is an exciting new chapter for me, and I’m relishing every moment of it.

What else to tell you, what else. Oh, we had lots of durian too!!

Until next time, yours truly.

Grace
